Where's your ad now?
The Outdoor Advertising Association of America estimates
that U.S. businesses spent more than $5.5 billion on outdoor
advertising in 2006 and is anticipating a healthy increase
in 2007. No matter how you slice it, billboard advertising
is on the rise in America.
Consider this: A newspaper ad is only good for a day and a
television commercial only lasts about thirty seconds. But a
billboard ad is working for you twenty four hours a day,
seven days a week.
The cost of billboard advertising ranges from about $700 to
$3,500 a month. At that rate, ten billboards could run as
much as $35,000 per month. That sounds like a lot of money,
until you realize that a full page ad running for one day in
a major newspaper costs about the same. But furthermore
consider the fact that you could have ten MOBILE billboards
(same size as standard billboards only double sided) for
$10,000 per month. With that in mind you could only purchase
three billboards for that price.
The popularity of MOBILE billboards is due in large part to
the ability of the advertiser to not be limited to one
location. With having a MOBILE billboard it is possible to
display the advertisement at any location throughout the U.
S.. This mobility goes a long way to providing the
advertiser an immense value when it comes to the advertising
capital that is to be spent on a campaign. A simple example
would be placing a MOBILE billboard across from a convention
center during a conference and taking advantage of street
level advertising that is targeted directly to the
conference attendees. This flexibility that is not available
at any cost when it comes to conventional billboards.
Mobile billboards, in addition to their mobility, offer the
luxury of having a two sided billboard, doubling the
visibility and providing the opportunity to bring a more
comprehensive look at the product or service being offered
by the advertiser.
Unlike other kinds of advertising, like TV or direct mail,
people cannot just switch the channel or throw it out. The
ad is simply in front of them as a part of the environment!
From this standpoint, advertising has the advantage of being
able to successfully hit a large number of people without
being too costly. When used in conjunction with other media
outlets, advertising on semi trucks is an effective way to
strengthen your marketing campaign.
Multiple Benefits Drive the Trend

.

Several studies have been done to demonstrate the
advertising benefits of both mobile outdoor media and
motional displays. The Association of Mobile Advertising
funded a study to gauge the efficiency of a campaign that
advertised a fictitious brand of dog food in which three
mobile trucks carried double sided posters touting the
Boomerang brand. Awareness increased by up to 32 percent
among those surveyed and more than 70 percent associated the
brand with mobile advertising
